Birds Health Guarantee
At African Grey Parrots Inc, all our birds undergo thorough testing and are certified negative for Polyomavirus (PVD), Avian Bornavirus (ABV), Proventricular Dilatation Disease (PDD), Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease (PBFD), and Chlamydia psittaci. With each bird purchase, we provide official documentation to verify their health status.
We ensure that all birds are symptom-free from any diseases or parasites at the time of sale, and we guarantee their overall health. This includes freedom from viral, bacterial, and fungal infections, as well as congenital defects. When you purchase a bird that is fully weaned (eating independently), we offer a 7-day health guarantee.
During this 7-day window, we encourage you to visit an avian veterinarian. If the veterinarian deems the bird unfit for sale, you must present the veterinarian’s certificate to us within 24 hours of the examination for either a replacement or a full refund. Please note that birds hand-fed by customers do not qualify for this guarantee. There are no refunds, exchanges, or replacements if the customer cannot care for an unweaned bird.
If the buyer does not have the bird examined by an avian veterinarian within the 7-day period after pickup or delivery, the sale is considered final, and no guarantee or refund will apply.
Clarification Of Heridity Defect
The transmission of traits from parents to offspring occurs through genes and chromosomes, carrying genetic information that shapes the traits of future generations. This natural inheritance includes the passing of genetic material from both parents and ancestors. Some conditions, such as patellar dislocation, can arise from factors like mishandling, trauma, or weight gain, and as such, are not covered by this Health Guarantee.
I confirm that the parrot has received its initial vaccinations. You are responsible for ensuring the parrot completes the remaining two vaccinations and for keeping up with annual boosters.
This guarantee only covers inherited genetic defects. We are not responsible for airborne or infectious diseases, including but not limited to parvovirus, coccidia, giardia, distemper, rabies, or any other infections the parrot may contract after leaving our care. While we take all necessary precautions to prevent illness, young parrots have immature immune systems when they go to their new homes, so extra care is needed until they are fully vaccinated.
We are not responsible for any veterinary costs incurred after the parrot leaves our facility, nor will we accept returns for parrots that fall ill after purchase. All sales are final. We also disclaim any liability for any issues related to anesthesia if the parrot undergoes surgery.
It is your responsibility to maintain your parrot’s health. Training and behavioral management, including housebreaking, are entirely your responsibility, and not something we provide as part of the sale. The owner is solely responsible for the care and education of the parrot.
